Ki Te Rāwhiti 3v3
Get involved in a fun, friendly, participation focused 3v3 basketball competition.
Avon Hub, 77 North Parade, Richmond
$250 per team
Fridays 5-9pm 23rd Oct - 11th December (no play Canterbury Anniversary 13th November)
Ki Te Rāwhiti 3v3 is an Under-13 Tāne basketball league based at the Avon Hub 77 North Parade, Richmond.
The league will consist of 12 teams and will provide tamariki with a regular opportunity to play basketball in a relaxed, positive and well-organised environment.
The name Ki Te Rāwhiti reflects the league's connection to the eastern communities of Ōtautahi. Rāwhiti refers to the east/eastern direction and provides the league with a strong sense of place and identity. It also provides an appropriate metaphor for the kaupapa of young people moving forward, developing and progressing towards future opportunities.
The league is intended to be more than simply a basketball competition. It will provide a space where tamariki can develop their basketball skills while also building confidence, friendships, positive relationships and a sense of belonging.
A key feature of Ki Te Rāwhiti 3v3 will be the incorporation of tikanga Māori into the playing environment. Six tikanga-based awards will recognise positive behaviour demonstrated by players during each game.
