New Brighton Rugby Football Club
The New Brighton Rugby Football Club is the eastern most rugby club in the Christchurch Metropolitan area. While the New Brighton area has seen many changes over the years, the New Brighton Rugby Football Club continues to play a significant role in the community.
Established in 1921, the Club is sited on Rawhiti Avenue on freehold land that also encompasses three rental properties. The Clubrooms are built over three levels, with the most recent addition being done in the early 1980’s.
The challenges to the amateur game in New Zealand are becoming more significant with each passing year, however the Club remains strong in playing numbers. The 2018 season saw 6 open grade teams and 19 junior teams competing in the Canterbury Metro competition.
